beeps
I'm having the same problem.. Completely random beeps that I can't pin down to a cause.. I timed them over a day and they happen at random intervals (sometimes 5 mins apart, sometimes 2 hours) with no common cause that I can determine..
Everything in the system is brand spanking new.. I notice that you guys are also running a Gigabyte P55 motherboard.. That's something that we all have in common.. A possible culprit? I've monitored temps, and they never go above 55 degrees (C) - CPU alarm is set to 70 degrees, so that doesn't seem to be it.. BIOS updates for the mobo (the UD6 anyway) didn't fix it. In fact, applying the latest BIOS update (which is only a week or two old) caused frequent BSODs - when it would even let Windows load.. I had to revert to previous version. Re: Random beeping while in Windows 7

While I obviously appreciate any help that you're offering, I have more than 4GB installed for a reason - 4GB is not more than sufficient. I'll try removing the additional modules to see if it stops the random beeping. Cheers, Kai |

Re: beeps
Removing the additional 2 modules had no effect - the beeping continues.
Having several virtual machines running concurrently (in addition to be able to use "normal" programs) benefit greatly from the additional RAM. |

Re: beeps
And if I were only ever using a single program at a time, I'd agree that 4GB is loads :)
But as I mentioned, running several VM's at the same time (which I do quite frequently) while still being able to use the actual system (without wanting to smash said system to pieces out of frustration) is a different matter.. In my case, 6GB was what I was after originally but ended up going for 8. |

Re: beeps
having the same problem here.
sporadic single beep after win7 startup. gigabyte p55-ud6 (bios 5f), core i7-860, 4x2gb-1600 sticks (damm limitation of using 4 single sided modules when popolation all 6 ram slots...), geforce 260. all win updates and newest drivers installed. Where could this beep come from??? If anybody knows a clue, please share! btw. had big trouble getting a stable (and bootable) system until hours of bios settings testing, disabling this dynamic single core boost feature gave me a rock solid system! |

Re: beeps
contacted gigabyte support and they advised me to use the final v5 bios from their int. website (as of 17.11.2009 on european website newest bios is 5f) which solved all my problems!
no more beeps and single core turbo works now perfect! hope that helps anybody! |

Re: beeps
New bios-> Awesome.. Thanks for posting..
I tried adjusting the RAM voltage yesterday (mine is 1.65v - When the voltage was set to Auto bios it stayed pretty level at 1.5) as a result of someone else fixing the beeping that way ( http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/29743-ga-p55m-ud2-periodic-lockups-mysterious-beep-2.html - it's for a different mobo, but same brand, same chipset) but it had no effect - still beeping.. I'll try the latest bios update and see how it goes.. (I'm pretty sure that I installed the F5 update already which is what caused my system to stop booting.. But if there's a final version... ) With the newer F5 bios (versus the one you originally had installed) did you still need to delve into the settings beyond the basics to get things happening? Re: beeps
i just changed the ram voltage to 1.64v (like it is advised in the memory xmp-profile1), all other voltage settings i left to the default values (except standard settings like ahci, set hpet timer to 64 bit), single core-turbo mode is enabled, left clockings to default values aswell.
tested memory stability via the boot cd from www.memtest.org , everything looking perfect - not a single lockup or bluescreen since bios v5 in win7-64bit. hth! |
