Dell Inspiron 530s Slim Motherboard Upgrade.
Earlier this year, I upgraded my video card with great success. The upgrade opened a world of opportunities and it was more than worth the load of research I had to do in order to find a compatible card. I now need to update my CPU, it is the only thing holding me back from enjoying some of the more demanding games and applications. I have plenty of RAM, HD space and a great video card, but I'm chugging along with a simply inadequate Pentium Dual Core processor. When I first set off looking for a my new video card, the first thing I did was ask an expert and get an idea of what I would need. That is what I hope to achieve by posting this, to get an idea of what I would need.
The biggest challenge for me is finding hardware that will fit in my slim case and be compatible with what is already there. I also do not understand the differences between motherboards, ATX, microATX, I have no idea. I need to know what kind motherboard I can use with my machine. I'm pretty sure what I have is a Foxconn G33m02 mATX motherboard. I can not upgrade my PSU (250W) and I can not spend a ton of money. Please help. |

Re: Dell Inspiron 530s Slim Motherboard Upgrade.
Just like your PSU the motherboard is also proprietary Dell.
If you want to invest the money into a CPU and motherboard you would be better off adding a case and power supply just use you existing drives and video card. |
