PC Will Not POST

Hi.

So on Friday I bought myself a new case, heatsink and power supply for my AMD computer that I built last year. I was using my system on Friday perfectly fine before I took it apart.

I have everything set up in the new case and well it wont POST. My monitor just says no signal. When I turn on the computer it all lights up, the fans come on and I get that sorta noise when a hard drive starts. I think it is working fine.
AT first I thought maybe I had connected the front switches wrong, the pwr sw, reset sw and hd led switch. I checked all that and checked all my other wiring. It is the same as it was in my last case and double checked with the MOBO manual. Retried and still nothing beyond fans and lights.

I took out the switches and tried to jump her with a screwdriver and got the same thing happening.

I also took out and reset the RAM, no luck. The CPU fan spins fine. I do not get any BIOS beeps either.

I do have another graphics card, that I can try. Going to do that now and see what happens. I am lost beyond words. Should I try clearing the C_MOS to reset the MOBO?.

Here are my specs :

AMD 64x2 5000 BE , 2.6GHZ
Biostar NFT520-A2-SE
4GB Mushkin DDR2 800
GEFORCE 8500GT 512mb from GIGABYTE
HDD Exceletor 160GB SATA 3gb/s
PSU: BFG 450w GS Series ATX 12V 2.2
CASE : Antec 900
CPU COOLER : Thermaltake V1
OS : Vista Ultimate 64 bit

Any help would be great. Thank you for your time.

Re: PC Will Not POST

Ok.
I tried using a different GPU and still the same result. I reset the C_MOS and nothing. CPU has not been taken out or touched at all. I simply removed the MOBO with CPU still in it from my old case to the new case. I did add a new CPU fan, the ThermalTake V1. Though that did not require me to touch the CPU at all. The V1 just clips on the the AMD Socket frame thing.

Re: PC Will Not POST

Did you install Mobo stand offs in the new case before installing the Mobo?
Do you have all the needed power connections connected?

Re: PC Will Not POST

My Antec 900 case came with the stand off points already in place for my ATX sized Mobo. I just lined it up and screwed it in.

I just checked the power supply cables and I got the set up how it shows in the manual. 20 pins to one side plugged in and the other 4 pin at the very top is plugged in. The JATXPWR2 is the top one.

Here are links to my case and even power supply.

Re: PC Will Not POST

Please provide a little clarity here. You mentioned the 20 pin plugged in and the 4 pin at the top (top of what). This motherboard takes a 24 pin ATX connector, are you using that as you should as one 24 pin connector? Are you certain you connected the +12 molex plug back in to the motherboard from the power supply?

Do check those new case standoffs to make sure you have only one for each hole and a hole for each standoff, no more, no less.

Re: PC Will Not POST

Sorry I meant the 24 pin connected into the JATXPWR1 slot on the left side of the CPU section. The 4 pin port I mentioned is called JATXPWR2 and is located at the top left hand side of the motherboard.

My PSU came with two of the +12v molex ( the 4 pin plug that plugs into the JATXPWR2 on top left of mobo? ) I plugged one of those in and the other cables are all 100% secure and plugged in.

I will check the standoff points now.

Re: PC Will Not POST

Ok, set it up outside the case and it did boot. What I did notice was that the JATXPWR2 4 pin connector had to be pressed in so firm. It must have been loose. I snap it right in and it booted. It must have been that. Just goes to show, even when you think you got one thing secure, it could be off by a mm. Going to put it back together now and hope it was only that problem. Will update once finished.

Re: PC Will Not POST

Thank you all so very much. It was the that power cable that ended up being so stiff and difficult to plug in. Thank you all for your help. I love TSF.
