I decided to dig out an old dinosaur, a win98 computer. I opened it up and tried to get it to work again. After I got it to work I decided to move it somewhere else in my home to further work on it. I also put in all the screws that I had left out. Now during boot it warns me about a new CPU and I need to set it up in bios, but it doesnt seem to be recognizing my keyboard or something. It had been working earlier. What is wrong?
![]() Additional details: The lights on the keyboard flash on when I hit power on the computer. The keyboard is a DIN connection. |

Re: Cannot get to bios
Try clearing the CMOS and see if that helps. You can do that by either moving the jumper from pins 1 & 2 to 2 & 3 and then back to the original position. Or, you can remove the motherboard batter for a few minutes and then return it to it's original position. Then, give it a try and see what happens.
Be sure to unplug from the wall and ground yourself before trying to do that.
