I have a tough one for you guys.
My computer has been running fine for years, but just recently my brother inserted a Zonet 802.11g Wireless USB. (ZEW2502 is the model number.) Now, I used to use this Wireless USB Adapter, but it didn't work quite well, as it was slightly broken. (Yes, I did have drivers for it.) I stopped using it, then, later re-formated my computer. Now, my brother puts it in a USB Port, and the computer just shuts off. (This is after the re-format; with no drivers for it.) I try turning it back on, but the computer no longer is even able to reach POST screen. (Yes, the monitor is working fine.) The monitor LED never turns green though, which means their not even connecting. My keyboard used to light up as well, when plugged into the computer, but now it doesn't light up at all. It seems it isn't sending power through the USB ports, as any USB device with an LED doesn't light up. (Although, I have a USB Drive, which has an LED, and it blinks, but only for a second, when first plugged in. Then the LED remains off.) Pushing the power button turns the computer on, but if I hold the power button, it won't turn off. (Usually it does after holding it for 10 seconds.) However, all the LEDs inside the computer light up. The frontal digital display, which displays the temperature of the computer, and a few other things, also works fine. Pushing the ejects buttons of the disc drives doesn't open them either. The fans work fine. I've tried plugging the Wireless USB Adapter back in, then powering it on, but that doesn't work either. Computer specs: Quote:
Interestingly enough, the Wireless USB Adapter came with the computer. What do you guys think? Any tests I can do? |

Re: Computer doesn't reach POST.
I would try another psu in it hopefully thats all it is and seeing as the drives won't open thats a possability. Its acting like a bad psu but it could also be the motherboard.
As far as testing you could remove all drives and cards except video to see if it will post like that, clear the cmos, if still no go remove the ram and see if it beeps. |

MAKE SURE TO CLEAR THE CMOS PROPERLY. Use both removal of battery and shorting of pins per manual instructions.

When I took out both graphics cards, however, it does beep. What does that mean? |

Re: Computer doesn't reach POST.
The fact that the motherboard beeps is a good sign I have seen a board fail to beep with a bad psu, so maybe with 2 video cards in there and a weak psu they are draining it so far down it fails to beep.
You should test the psu with a volt meter http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/ram-power-supply-support/151526-test-your-power-supply-multi-meter.html |

Re: Computer doesn't reach POST.
Update:
Tried a new MotherBoard, free because of the warranty. (CyberPower insisted that I tried a new MotherBoard first. ) Nothing changed though, and I had the same problem as before. After taking it apart and testing things, the CPU becomes VERY hot just after a few seconds of being turned on. Most likely a shortened CPU, which happened when my brother plugged in that Wireless Adapter. (I have to admit, it's very tempting to plug it in another computer just to see if it'll shorten out it's CPU as well. I could use it to destroy other computers with complete stealth. )Also, as a side note: Looking at the LED Display at the back of the computer, it was hard to see what it said, because it's all glitchy, but it appears to say CPU CHG. Which means, change the CPU. So, I'm going to try a new CPU next, free of charge, of course.

Dai is perfectly right. An 850 80+ preferably from something like Corsair, Seasonic, or even OCZ.
