Compatibility motherboard/CPU

Could someone please tell me if a HP Compaq 261671-001 motherboard and a AMD Athlon XP 2600+ AXDA2600DKV4D - FSB 333 CPU are compatible? And if they're not with what CPU would the motherboard be compatible with? Thank you very much!

Re: Compatibility motherboard/CPU for amd athlon

Amd Athlon XP 2600 AXDA2600DKV4D is in k7 Family and is compatible with socket A (socket 462) motherboard..The Actual bus frequency is 166 MHz. Because the processor uses Double Data Rate bus the effective bus speed is 333 MHz.Thus Socket A (socket 462) motherboard do compatible with other latest cpu In k7 family than amd athlon XP 2600

HP Compaq 261671-001 m/board is using Socket A (socket 462) for cpu..

but the conclusion is AMD cpu temperature heat is more likely exceed and if ur cpu fan not function or does not have good air flow it will course a dead chip left.Make sure ur cooling system (cpu fan) and other fan system is in good condition..Thats all i know..correct me if i`m wrong!!

Any computer upgrading should refer back to the vendor site, because its could affect other related hardware/software ..hope im helping..

Re: Compatibility motherboard/CPU

I have been told that my this motherboard will only suport up to 266 FSB and the is on 333FSBAMD AMD Athlon XP 2600+ AXDA2600DKV4D Barton 512K 462 OC thus the two will not work together.

All i wanna know is if my motherboard will support 266 or 333 FSB and a name of a CPU that will be compatible with.

Sorry if you answered me in the first time and i couldn't understand.

Thank you very much for the answer ...people from other forums also told me that i need a powerful cooler.

Thank you!

The numbers you posted all refer to the Mobo. We need to know the Model Number of the HP PC.

Exclamation Re: Compatibility motherboard/CPU

HP Compaq 261671-001 System Board / Motherboard M4 << check ur motherboard socket..If its use socket A type motherboard, because i never check this..if it so,then amd athlon is compatible with it..

it`s because AMD Athlon XP 2600+ AXDA2600DKV4D is only compatible with Socket A type motherboard and there is many type of motherboard use socket A as asus,Hp,ETC.The other thing is u have to set ur mobo clock setting for run it correctly for the cpu..(this might affect on cpu lifetime in some cases if overclocking)..plz see Bus ratio x frequency setting on ur motherboard or bios setting if u have it..
bus ratio x frequency = cpu MHZ (find an exactly value or closely to ur New cpu MHZ value)...hope i help...Correct me if im wrong k..

there is no way that I know of to verify which bios your board is using ? what prompted you to buy an HP board if you dont have an HP system?

you would have been FAR better off buying an asus or gigaybte board and then its easy to discern ecactly which cpu's the board handles and it would have bios updates available which would allow you to upgrade your cpu as far forward as practical for the socket type ?

at this point you will be forced to just guess and try the new cpu, if it doesnt work then you will be forced to buy another motherboard which can use the newer cpu

sorry we cant tell you what you want to hear,
