motherboard question

How does a motherboard take or support up to 8 mgs of memory when there
are only 2 memory slots on the board. Are 4 mg memory sticks available?

Re: motherboard question

Yes they are, not really common, but you can find 4GB memory sticks, though they usually are very expensive.

Re: motherboard question

Yes. 4 gb sticks exist.

I have seen older board with single slots and they say 1 gb max. Back then 1gb was the 8gb of today :P. One stick job.

Re: motherboard question

About a month ago that single 4GB stick was about $100 but DDR2 is taking a steady rise in price. Since 4GB of RAM is plenty there's not much point to the 4GB stick. Lack of purchases means higher prices.
