Re: New Dell Dimension C521 processor
So far no good. The UPS guy was a dumbass, couldn't read the right address so the processor was never delivered to my house lol. So I'll let you know in about 2 weeks now while the investigation goes on. And I was hoping I would have it for my Windows 7 Launch Party and boom, never ever UPS.

Re: New Dell Dimension C521 processor
So I finally received it.... I tried to check if it will work, so I shut down my computer, took out my old processor, put in the new one, screwed the fan back on and then turned the computer back on and all there is, is a fan going loud but not cooperating with the monitor. So I'm guessing it's the BIOS. I did have it updated to the latest one.
So apparently that's the problem, I want to try to downgrade to the 1.0.3 BIOS but not sure how to do it. Any idea? And I don't have a floppy drive. Thanks in advance. Oh and the reason for 1.0.3 is because I heard that some people made the processor work with that. |

Re: New Dell Dimension C521 processor
Did you clean off the old thermal paste and install new?
If not the CPU will overheat and shut down before it can boot. You can try flashing it to the earlier Bios, use the floppy drive method, but I doubt if newer bios would stop it from working. http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_s...structions.htm |

Re: New Dell Dimension C521 processor
Is the CPU recognized correctly?
If your not sure use CPUz look on the CPU tab. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php |

Re: New Dell Dimension C521 processor
Yes it's recognized correctly on the CPUID and on the properties of the computer. The only thing is that I cannot refresh my score for some dam reason now, probably will need to re-install or just forget about it, I have too much crap on my computer anyway already :p
