Booting into My Bios
Hi folks -
Im a bit rusty at self-maintaining my pc. A person was kind enough to help me with the following suggestion, however, I am not sure what key I should press at startup to access the BIOS. I have a HP Pavillion a500n running windows xp. Here's what I need to do when I'm in: "Boot into the Bios and go to the Boot order, make sure USB device is the last boot device (Floppy if present first, CD rom drive and then Hard Drive, USB device last) Or disable the USB boot all together. " Thanks! |

Re: Booting into My Bios
Looks like F1 will do the trick. Just turn on the PC and keep tapping F1.

Re: Booting into My Bios
missed that Cool - so HP have a non standard set of mb's out there like Dell do (some have a F10 requirement for bios).
Beats me why the manufacturers feel the need to change basic stuff......

Re: Booting into My Bios
Manufacturers like to differ themselves from others. It doesn't make sense to me either, haha.
It's also possible that if she/he doesn't have that motherboard - then F1 won't work. Anyways, just let us know if it works! Take it easy, -Coolfreak |

List of commonly used keys for entering BIOS: http://michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm
Also, you can remove 'floppy' from the boot device list if you don't use floppies. This will stop the computer checking the floppy drive at startup, speeding up the boot process by a couple of seconds.
