Quad core processor but only One core working

I just installed the Vista SP2 for Windows Vista Ultimate and i think it turned off three of my four processors (at least i think this was the catalyst)

There are no system restore points before the install to go back to. I cant seem to get the full processor working

PLEASE HELP!

Re: Quad core processor but only One core working

Why do you think the other CPU cores are not working? What are you using to determine this?

Re: Quad core processor but only One core working

1. I have a hardware monitor running that is checking all processor speeds and tracking it. This monitor only shows one core working at all.

2. System information lists my processor but has one core in ( ) This is the direct copy of that.
"Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz, 2660 Mhz, 1 Core(s), 1 Logical Processor(s)"

3. I had a similar problem once at the very beginning of my ownership of this PC in which only one core was responsive, the computer behaved in the same manner. I also run alot of processor intensive programs and they have experienced a significant decrease in performance.

Re: Quad core processor but only One core working

Thanks for the link but i can only select one processor as the other three are not recognized. So my computer thinks its a single core and therefore does not have the option of choosing 4 cores.
