Sorry about the Double post, I just notices ASUS has its own little forum.
Good day all, OK-- Asus is f***ing useless with their tech support (web site hardly ever works, they don't answer tech support requests or e-mails-- are they going bankrupt? Tech support is always the first thing to get the boot when a company is in trouble). I cannot find anything on my own on how to assign IRQ's, including the manual. Half my devices were assigned IRQ #11 (including Display), so I flipped IRQ #11 to "reserved". The result was superb : half the devices were then assigned IRQ #5. Q-- How do I specify IRQ's?? Right now it stands like this : IRQ# #3 Serial Bus Controller #14 IDE Controller #3 USB 1.1 UHCI #3 USB 1.1 UHCI #11 USB 1.1 UHCI #11 USB 1.1 UHCI #5 USB 2.0 EHCI #5 Multimedia Device #11 Display controller #11 Network controller #9 ACPI controller Where are #1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12 and up? How do I resolve the problem? Settings in PCI PnP: Ressources controlled (AUTO) -- I switched it to manual to try and reserve slot 11 with the above result Assign IRQ for VGA (enabled) All IRQ's are assigned to (PCI device).

Errr... well, I guess I would ask what sort of problem you are experiencing that led you to believe the IRQ's were a problem? I have the A8V board also and have yet to worry about an IRQ setting. Maybe there's a different solution.
IRQ's, in general, can be left to automatically work themselves out without any adverse affects. Which is not at all to imply that you aren't on the right track.. just that knowing the underlying problem might help us to help you. PS: I am fully in agreement with you on the tech support. I have not had any luck with them so far, though the kind folks here are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Display problems
Well, actually I'm having display problems. Screenshots
I don't beleive I have memory problems, because I just successfully ran Memtest, and Prime 95. Aquamark is crashing, The Far Cry demo will not even launch. I will now RMA the GPU, but the vendors say they need to test the card and decide if it is defective. I managed to play Half-life 2 and run the 3DMark tests, so I need to make sure my system is ok before I send the card. In the device manager, all devices have theur own IRQ. I haven't a clue which of the boot screen or device manager to trust, sinve in my CMOS I have th Plud&Play o/s set to {no}. I don't even know if this is relevent. Thank you for your post, I wou't be able to read any replies until they (hopefully) send a replacement Sapphire x850XT.

Interesting. I don't think it could be IRQ's, so I wouldn't exert too much energy in that direction. Set those back to auto and let them work themselves out.
Other things you could look at would be perhaps the motherboard shorting out on something (an extra motherboard stand underneath or a stray piece of case contacting a side of the board), or the video card may not be seated completely in its slot (pull it all the way out and put it back in). That last one seems very likely to me. Hope you get it working!
