New?
AI has been around for at least a year on Asus's boards. Is there something new from a recent bios. Also is the system monitor you're talking about called asus probe. I've used both but thought there were better options. If I've missed some recent developments please give a detailed explanation.

I thought i kept up on these things. I just went to asus's site and saw the utility you spoke of. I'll give it a try. i wish Asus would state exactly WHAT it is in the release notes! I'll check it out. Thanks!

Thanks
Thanks for the manual. I use a program called textaloud with which i'm converting it into an MP3 file as I type. My job is lame so i listen to all sorts of PC related stuff while working. Kansas City radio is intolerable. I'm trying to be careful on installing new software. Asus probe used to give erroneous data so I'm a little suspicious. Do you run Mother board monitor by any chance. I wondered about interactions. Where is Derby anyway? Thanks again for the weird Asus related program. I'll probably try it tomorrow after I listen to the manual.

We are just 6 miles south of Wichita Kansas. I had Probe loaded and only used it because I liked the history part of it. I would record from idle to an end of a game and check my peaks. I have had my board about a year and a half now and love it. I put systems together for friends and people at work. I recently put together a 915g Asus system and I'm not all that impressed. I think my chipset and board are faster. The case came damaged so I'm waiting before I can transfer the parts to the new case. I'm using the 17 inch LCD that goes with his system and I'm not very impressed by it either. My CRT is 10 times better, brighter, clearer etc.. I think I will buy a 19 inch CRT next because I can't seem to get mine to have straight sides on the right and left. Some day I hope to move up to Raptors like your system but my 120's will do for now. Hope this gives you something to read during your dull working day. Take it easy.

I'll try tonight
I'm going to give it a try. I'd like to utilize my memory a little better by uping the clock speed gently. The system is pretty fast. If someone asked me why. Because it's there. I googled about AI booster and got conflicting reports about whether it saved the bios settings after a reboot. The manual was rather fuzzy about that issue as well. The raptors are cool but I'm on the line as to whether it was worth the trouble and cash. Refer back to because they were there. I'll try the utility. why not? I've used Asus's AI as well as dabbling with more traditional bios OCing. I ordered my PC from a vendor and was clueless. I've since found out many of my choices weren't exactly OC friendly. I'll jusy try and take my equipment as far as it can go with relative safety. Can this utility monitor RAM timings, Turbo, PAM? I guess I'll find out.

usable
I'd prefer to OC from the bios but AI booster offers an excellent way to monitor your changes. You can tweak voltages and FSB and see the results. It's got a nice interface. Seems like no conflicts with MBM yet and the price is right!

Compatibility
Is the new AI Booster Utility compatible to the previous AsusP4 mobos and AMD based mobos? Or, it is only compatible with the latest AsusP5 based mobos?

On a P5AD2-E Premium, when I try to install this I get an error, something about IO driver failed to install. Any idea what that is? All drivers are installed, everything works, but I can't get AI Booster to install...

Anyway, I love the OC on the fly feature, makes it 100% easier than jumping, but it sucks because my CPU is locked at an 11x multipier:( Last edited by 92b16vx; 03-19-2005 at 05:25 PM. |

Fuzzy
The research I had done on it prior to installation yielded many people that had decided that there were certain conditions under which it saved the bios settings. I like the interface and monitoring capabilities. You can play around in windows and transfer the settings to bios when you want. I just thought it was cool for the price.
