Re: Front USB problem
Sounds like the 2 ports on your case are USB 1.0 and will not support 2.0 speeds. If you plug into rear USB ports you get 2.0 speeds right? Haven't replaced case mounted USB ports/cables, but that is an option. Or a new case.
If you get that message only when plugging into case mounted ports then it is definitely not driver related.

Re: Front USB problem
hello Bunto, welcome to tsf.
the drivers for USB 2.0 are built into windows xp (must have at least service pack 1 installed). to verify the driver is installed: right click my computer select device manager then double click universal serial bus controllers and verify one of the listed items has the words 'enhanced host'. ------------------------------ also, to check the bios settings reboot and press Del key then select advanced menu and key down to usb configuration, verify the settings are same as shown below.

Re: Front USB problem
close all programs, you will need to reboot the computer when finished...
1. disconnect all usb devices (except keyboard, mouse) 2. click start -> right click My Computer -> Device Manager 3. double click 'Universal Serial Bus controllers' (to expand it) 4. find the item with 'Enhanced' and right click, select uninstall, click okay and it will uninstall, wait until windows reinstalls it, (only takes a few seconds). 5. reboot, (click Start -> Turn off Computer-> Restart), DO NOT connect any usb devices until windows has rebooted and displays desktop again.
