Foxconn mobo error code help plz
Hi All,I've recently purchased a whole new set of parts to build a desktop, after putting all the parts together, I realized the new machine won't boot up properly. When the power is turned on, the fans and LEDs turns on for 8-10 secs (during this time window, DVD and HD are also receiving power also), then everything shuts off for 8-10 secs (then DVD and HD also loses power). This cycle repeats indefinitely. The Mobo onboard debug LED displays 03 error code. I looked it up, it means Initial "Superio_Early_Init switch". I've tried to disassembling and reassembling all parts, cleared BIOS by taking out the mobo battery for 5 mins while the PSU is disconnnected. I really ran out of ideas at this point, does anyone here have seen this before?
Here are the parts specs: CPU INTEL|C2Q Q9550 2.83 775 12M Thermaltake PSU TT|W0100RU 500W RT HD 1T|SAMG 7K 16M SATA2 HD102UJ RT S/W MS WIN XP PRO X64 SP2C OEM VGA PNY VCG GTX260 CXPB MB FOXCONN BLACKOPS X48 775 RT MEM 2Gx3|G-Skill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ R DVD BURN LG|GH22NS30 22X SATA Thermaltake CASE TT|VJ400G1N2Z BK RT Last edited by kevinfisher; 05-16-2009 at 05:29 PM. Re: Foxconn mobo error code help plz
My first thought is to remove 1 of the 3 sticks of RAM. Try 2 sticks in the 2 Blue slots. If that doesn't work;
1) Remove EVERYTHING from the case 2) Set the motherboard on a non conductive surface. The motherboard box is perfect for this. DO NOT PLACE THE MOTHERBOARD ON THE STATIC BAG! It can actually conduct electricity! We are going to try and assemble a running system outside of the case. 3) Install the CPU and heat sink. 4) Install 1 stick of RAM. 5) Install the video card and attach the power supply connection(s) to the card if your card needs it. 6) Connect the monitor to the video card. 7) Connect the power supply to the motherboard with both the 24pin main ATX Power connection and the separate 4 or 8 pin power connection. 8) Connect power to the power supply. 9) Do NOT connect ANYTHING else. Make sure you have the power connector on the CPU fan connected. 10) Use a small screwdriver to momentarily short the power switch connector on the motherboard. Consult your motherboard manual to find which two pins connect to your case's power switch. Then touch both pins with a screwdriver to complete the circuit and boot the system. |

Re: Foxconn mobo error code help plz
If you followed the bench test instructions then you obviously have some bad hardware. Substituting/testing parts is all that's left.
I would start with the PSU.

Re: Foxconn mobo error code help plz
Thank you for your help. Reading the forum on the Foxconn website, it states that I need to update the bios so that It can recognize the Q9550 processor. So I am going to have them send out a update bios chip. My other option is to use an older processor that the board will recognize ie..Pentium 4 chip so it will boot up and than flash the bios.
