Device Manager... and bios help
Hi people.
Long time viewer, first time poster. I have upgraded my processor from a AMD Athlon 2100+/2200+ (I'll explain the confusion) to a AMD Athlon 2700+ TBRED (Changed it all myself). Now, I know the processor is not too powerful for the motherboard, but I have a few problems: When I right click my computer, it shows that my PC is running at 1.73GHz... but the 2700+ TBREAD is over 2Ghz. Now, my problems are: Device Manager isn't showing "Processor" tab. And, if needs be, how do I change the bios for to alter my CPU Processor clock speed on a Compaq based PC? Any help would be appreciated. PS: The confusion about the 2100+/2200+ is that my old processor says 2200 on it, but My CPU shows 2100. Oh, and my Setup is F10. Re: Device Manager... and bios help
you might have a tuffie here .............. OEM system builders dont generally offer bios files that will allow cpu upgrades ....... their bios files are in support of only the original spec at time of sale ................... you could research which motherboard your system has ........ then buy a bios chip from a third party vendor like the ones on ebay or biosdepot or biosman.com ....................
this is not a guarantee it will work ............ I have had the best luck of all in this manner when trying to make an OEM system giddie-up .............. use cpu-z (free) to find out which motherboard your system has
