Motherboard/CPU
I have a HP desk top computer that must have taken a power surge hit. There are items on the motherboard including the CPU that are melted or leaking. My question is, is it possible to get a matching or at least a simular motherboard and CPU for this unit. I went to HP's web site but of course I can't get it there. It seams a shame to just throw it away, all the drives and memory are good (that I know of anyhow) any advice?

If the computer took a power surge hit, enough to melt the CPU and other components, I would bet that any other components of the computer aren't any good either. I would take your losses and invest in a new system.

You don't give us a model number or type/speed of CPU but it has been my experience that what HP will charge for a mobo/CPU you can probably build a PC. Like crazijoe said your other components are going to be suspect, especially the power supply if it took that big a hit.
