[SOLVED] Asus P5L-VM 1394 Mobo and geforce 8800gs

Are they compatible,I have a chance to buy one of these boards at a very low price,I was just wondering if it was compatible with pci-e 2.0 graphic cards,I know that the pci-e 2.0 is backwards compatible, but, will it work on this board, you may have seen my other posts about the VIA chipset I have now, which,is not compatible, bloody Foxconn

I've heard that pci-e 2.0 is not compatible with the older pci-e slots, like the one in my Mobo,I can't seem to find any info on what slot this board has

I am starting to pull my hair out,I always thought google was great, til,I had this wee problem

Seriously guys, any help here would be greatly appreciated

PS:this Mobo has an Intel 945G chipset

Re: Asus P5L-VM 1394 Mobo and geforce 8800gs

I'm having a bit of a problem with my setup,I've replaced my old foxconn mobo with an Asus p5l-vm 1394,all the fans are working temp is ok,I can get to the Bios (which needs updating) no probs, the prob is...after the pc leaves BIOS the screen goes black with a flashing cursor,I have an IDE HD drive and a sata hd as well, the BIOS is not recognising my IDE drives,so I can't boot up windows.
I've set the IDE config to sata and pata, but still,it doesn't recognise them, them being my primary HD and dvd rom drive.I am trying to do a clean install of XP pro,but for the life of me I can't figure this one out,any help here guys

system specs

intel dual core 3.0ghz cpu
160 gb ide hd
250 gb sata hd
600watt psu
geforce 8800gs (not installed yet)
mobo as above
3gb ddr2 ram
