boot up
As of late I have had to restart my computer at least two times in order to get it to boot up beyond the amber lite and powersave mode. I am not able to restart without having to be next to the computer in order to restart it by shutting it down and restarting it again. The computer is an Compaq Presario SR1230NX, four years old.

Re: boot up
My bad, the one in my presario is a 20 pin, the 650w is 24. I installed a 285w 20 pin and the same problem accured during reboot. When I first turned the computer on, all was good. I then restarted and got a hung start, and that with a different power supply.

Re: boot up
Did not work, You know for what ever it's worth, the computer is four years old, with a problem such as this by the time we got done playing around with what could be, and what could not be, I will have replaced most everything on my computer related to what may be causing a hung start. Thanks for your input. I have noticed another post that is dealing with just about the same problem. I will keep an eye open, and perhapes the solution to his problem may also help me out. Thanks again for your time.

Re: boot up
How is changing my RTC going to help in the way of a hung start? It also wants me to press F-1 on start enter, and change my BIOS setting after making these changes. I don't really have a problem with all this I am just curious on how all this plays into a problem concerning a hung start. I play around with computers quit a bit, but still no nothing about them as far as what may be causing what. I can do all the moving of the pin set up, but need to understand what is happening when I do, so do not be affended if I am asking all these questions.

Re: boot up
it's finding something wrong with the bios and clearing it may fix the problem
