ASUS Crosshair/XP Install Problem
I've got 2 150GB WD Raptors in a RAID 0, and an ASUS Crosshair, trying to install XP 32 and Vista 64 on separate partitions, both in the raid. i dont have a floppy drive, but ive got all the support discs that came with the mobo. Anyways, im going through the XP installer and it asks to load the drivers. so i throw in the support disc, cant find the driver. well that sucks. so i just hit enter and xp starts loading all the raid/scsi drivers it comes with n says starting windows. most of the way through that i get a bsod. any one got any ideas? any input would be appreciated...thanks in advance

Re: ASUS Crosshair/XP Install Problem
It sounds to me you need to install the SATA drivers during the install (F6 Floppy).
If you do not have a floppy drive you can try to slipstream your XP disc and your Sata drivers to CD. Here is how using Nlite: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...-installation/ Also be sure your BIOS is set properly for your RAID configuration. Can you give me the exact model of this board? Thanks, Bill |

Re: ASUS Crosshair/XP Install Problem
Hey, thanks for the reply.
I have the mobo driver CD, which does come with the drivers, however I'm noticing while it's "searching" for the drivers, the disc doesnt so much as move at all. No, I have no floppy. My RAID is set correctly, but thank you for the added tip. That is the exact model for the motherboard, its an ASUS Crosshair, its one of their Republic of Gamers boards and has no alphanumerical methodology, it's just Crosshair. Thanks again for the feedback. |

Re: ASUS Crosshair/XP Install Problem
That would be the easiest way.
I have also found the manaul for this board. Starting on page 5-24 It will dscribe what you need to do to setup your RAID configuration. http://www.manualnguide.com/dl/9368/ Also be sure to leave the floppy disc in (When asked) until windows is completely loads Hope this help. Re: ASUS Crosshair/XP Install Problem
i ended up saying screw it and installing xp on my seagate. the lack of a bootloader is somewhat annoying however ive wasted too much time trying to find one that will work for me. so now im just changing boot order for different OS. thank you very much for your help, however, I'm sure sometime in the future I'll get mad at the lack of bootloader and redo it this way

Re: ASUS Crosshair/XP Install Problem
If you are trying to dual boot XP and Vista, Vista has it own bootloader.
This may help you: http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vi...creenshots.htm I have not tried this as Vista has enough issues by itself without an XP dual boot setup The setup you have now (XP and Vista on seperate HD) may be more stable. Thanks, Bill |
