What is a Raid 5 "software patch"?
High-end Asus MBs tout a Silicon Image RAID controler which supports RAID 5, but with a "software patch". Is this a driver which must be loaded with the OS? Is it specific to an OS? And what, exactly, is being patched and why?
Inquiring minds, etc.
