Random System Restarts.

Has anyone solved this problem? I bought my XPS 720 about 4 months ago and I have the random restarts a few times a day. Just total restart. No error message, no BSOD (automatic restart is turned off), no dump log, no event log. System is getting good air circulation. Often happens when I am not even at the computer. It seems, from a Google search, that the XPS 720 has this problem more often than others.

Re: Random System Restarts.

Thank you for your questions.

Video - nVidia GeForce 8800 GT

CPU - Quad Core Intel Core 2 Q6600, 2400 MHZ (not clocked)

M/Board - Dell 0U723D, Rev A00 - nVidia nForce 680i SLI chipset

RAM - 4MB DDR-2 800mhz

Haven't opened the case to see the power source, but it is listed as 1KW

Temp/Volt - Installed full version of Everest - Temp seems pretty constant at 26-31 for Core, 57 for the GPU, volated is 1.36-1.5 for CPU

O/S - XP Media Center, SP3

I have tried to find a common thread in the various boards talking about XPS 720 random restart. So far I don't see any commonality.

Re: Random System Restarts.

none of the specs listed by the reviews list the power supply
it would need to be in that range
take the side off and check
unless you specified 1k when you bought it,i would be suprised if it was anywhere near it
