CPU Bracket Broken, Need Urgant Help On CPU Fans
Hi all,
I was happily using my computer, when poof, it died... after a lot of testing and such, I think it has to do with the fact that my stocket AMD X2 CPU fan has broken the bracket and fallen loose. (Is just the fan/heatsink they ship with the CPU) I don't know if this is normal or not, but my comp won't start unless the fan is plugged in. So now it's on it's side, the fan resting on the broken bracket. I've phoned serval comp shops and all of them tell me I can't buy a new bracket. So I need a new fan, one that screws in and doesn't require a bracket. Problem is, these shops are a HUGE rip off so I want to buy from an online store, but I'm having trouble finding out what fans/heatsinks will screw into my motherboard. So yes, hear I am... help would be appreciated I've got a AMD X2 3800+ CPU and a Asus M2V mobo in a Thermaltake Soprano case. Thank you! |

Go here,,
http://www.newegg.com/store/category...k=heat%20sinks Im sure you will find something,,I would not run that cpu without proper cooling, you will fry it......You Never try to run a cpu with the fan on the heatsink unplugged.

Thats an AM2 socket so just go for heatsink/fan that will fit that socket. Also, don't forget to buy some thermal paste for when you replace the HSF. Get Artic Silver 5. Can't beat that stuff
