[SOLVED] Gigabyte EasyTune 5 - Overclocked Lost Video
Okay we can put this in the "don't try something new at 2 AM when you are tired and bored.
I have a Gigabyte Board with EASY TUNE 5 installed. I was just piddiling around with the Basic Settings and ran the overclock up and down just to see how high the numbers went, unfortuneatly I hit something that applied it. I know I was at 10, I am hoping that meant 10%. Anyway, the video went to diagnal lines, and that was the end of it. Now I can log into another account on the same pc with only limited access. The EasyTune5 fails to load so it works fine. However, since I don't have ADMIN rights with this account I have no idea how to undo the settings on the EasyTune5 to stop it from trying to overclock each time the ADMIN account is loaded. PC Specs: MB: GA-M51GM-S2G BIOS F11 3-20-07 OS: MS Win XP PRO SP3 Options already tried; 1) System Restore through Start>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore Insufficient Admin Priviledges. 2) Load Admin Account (ctrl-alt-delete) and stop the EasyTune5. (I don't know the service to stop) I am drawing a blank on the work around I am used to. I know you can change the limited account to an admin, but not remembering how. I do have Win Ultimate Boot CD, as well as, Knoppix, so I can boot up without Windows loading. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks, Kevin |

Re: Gigabyte EasyTune 5 - Overclocked Lost Video
This is not intended to help you fix your specific problem, it IS a personal comment.
COMMENT: Overclocking ANYTHING is a bad idea. Manufacturers of electronics specify the clock speeds at the best for best Performance + SAFETY. They provide for overclocking only because so many users want it. That does NOT mean users should overclock. When you overclock, you are risking your hardware. You have to ask yourself, "Is the possible damage to my hardware worth the performance increase I MAY get by overclocking?" In other words, if you fry your motherboard and/or CPU (video card or whatever) how much would I have to pay to replace it.

Re: Gigabyte EasyTune 5 - Overclocked Lost Video
SAFE MODE, Right, Um Yeah, err I, umm, yeppers that is what I was trying remember. WOW, can you tell I have been up way to long.
Regarding Overclocking, I am a firm believer, in buy what you want for performance. You may not have picked up on the "I was tired and playing with EasyTune5" to see what it was. I had no intention of overclocking I was just stupid and "Fat Fingered" my way into the hell that I am currently in. Thank Houndog777, that is the simple fix I was missing. Kevin |

Re: Gigabyte EasyTune 5 - Overclocked Lost Video
The problem is solved. Thanks Houndog777, I was able to go back a day on the System restore. PS, I fixed two other machines that I had sitting around as well. I have no idea how I forgot something so simple.

Good to hear you have everything under control.
It's easy to forget stuff, especially when you're tired. People are like machines; they need to recharge their batteries regularly! SLEEP!!!zzzzzzzzzzzzz |
