Mistake installed new cpu and no picture shows!

I have installed a new AMD X2 5000+ processor, replacing my older AMD 3800+. My socket is AM2
However after installation there is no picture and i have tried everything to correct this, including changing my graphics card to an older model that i still have, but i havnt done much else yet.

The graphics cards i tried were the nvidia 7600GS and my newer 8600GTS.

Can anyone shed some light on this problem?
Much appreciated

Re: installed new cpu and no picture shows!

Does your motherboard have a bios installed that supports this cpu? Check the motherboards website for details. Did you clean off the heat sink and redo the thermal paste correctly? Only 2 small drops spread out of the surface of the cpu is all thats needed. If your bios is up to date, Id remove the hs/f and cpu, inspect it and take your time reseating the cpu making sure the under surface of the cpu rests snug ontop of the cpu bracket on the mobo.

If you can get into bios, a cmos reset might be the first thing to try. There is a sticky at the top of the forums. Dont skip a step or it will not clear correctly.
