It keeps doing this sequence over and over again.I have a compaq presario S5322SS running xp home edition. This happened out of the clear blue,no previous symtoms.Any help or sugesstions would greatly be appreciated.Thanks,Ralph.

Re: bad bios checksum error
Hi,
Do you have BIOS Recovery software on disc? I take it you haven't, so, when the pc starts to boot enter the BIOS Setup and select your default settings then save & exit. It tells you onscreen what key to press to Enter Setup during the initial stages of boot. It's usually F2, F10 or Delete. |

Re: bad bios checksum error
Hi, is the pc also starting-up without you using the Power button on front of the PC?
If so, you'll need to power-off, unplug from the wall and check every connection on the motherboard is properly made. Especially the front-panel connectors. Remember the anti-static rules and discharge any static you may have on you by touching the power supply and chassis and keeping some skin in contact with the case while your hands are near the motherboard. Use the manual to guide you with this. If you don't have one the download it. Here's your pc's page at Compaq. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...=378456&dlc=en Last edited by Houndog777; 07-31-2008 at 04:07 PM. Reason: add |

Re: bad bios checksum error
Did this happen after you tried a bios update? If so......
Cmos battery might be dead.
