Re: Another CPU Overheating: Intel Q9300

well, after googling the problem, i found other people mentioned that they didn't have enough thermal paste. i put too much on there last time and while it booted, my cpu temp was around 50C. I put too little this time and it wouldn't start. I put more in and it still wouldn't start.

another said it was due to memory. i took both of them out, put only one in to try to boot, still shuts off after 1 second.

if all of this only cost me 10 bucks, i would've smashed it to pieces... urgh....

Re: Another CPU Overheating: Intel Q9300

I know what your going through. I tried extra sticks of ram and even a whole new cpu with dif. amounts of paste on each time, same problem every time.

Re: Another CPU Overheating: Intel Q9300

just put the pstae on according to the instructions

set it up out of the case on a piece of cardboard with
cpu
video
ram
speaker
and see if you get post
check you have the correct amount of standoffs no more no less
that they line up with the holes in the m/board
usually 9

Re: Another CPU Overheating: Intel Q9300

btw, when you power up a computer and it shuts down like one second later, doesn't that mean it's a PSU issue not providing enough power? i was just wondering since the motherboard lights came on during that one second...

Re: Another CPU Overheating: Intel Q9300

yeah thats pretty much what I did. Mobo was actually cheaper for me to ship to RMA so I thought I would try that first. I was planning on doing an rma on the video card and psu also if the mobo wasnt the problem. Since its so much like the problem I had, I would get a new mobo. Tough to say though, dont know enough about this stuff

Re: Another CPU Overheating: Intel Q9300

I have a Q9300 running about 20C-25C at nightime and 25c-30c during the hot days here in hong kong. I have watercooling but I thought I'd give you my temps for reference sake.
