Possibly. On a REALLY old motherboard, the battery looked like a barrel lying on it's side, usually back by the keyboard connector. Otherwise, they usually just used the 2032 watch batteries.
But even with a dead battery, once it's powered on it'll usually go to default settings. If it's beeping at you, you have to tell us what 'code' the beeps are, long and short. If it's just a steady beep--beep-beep-beep that doesn't stop, it's bad RAM or CPU. |
