New computer fps drops in games - Motherboard / Processor issue?

Hello : ) I have built a new computer speccs are following:

Asus M2N-MX SE Plus - Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 6000+ X2 - Processor
Crucial DDR2 PC5300 2048MB- Ram (2 st 1 gb)
Saphire Ati Radeon HD 3870 X2 - Graphics
Silver Power 600 watt PSU - PSU
160 gig harddrive(IDE) - Harddrive (Newformated and Windows XP 32bit installed SP2 and Direct X 9.0c)

Now, everything works fine, untill i start gaming. I can run let say Crysis or Assassins Creed att high settings with good preformance. Suddenly about every 30 seconds or something i get massive FPS dropps, from 90 to 9 , stays there for a couple of seconds and then back to 90.

This has nothing to do with the enviorment of the game, i can stand directly to a brickwall and just wait for the fps drops.
I've run 3dmark -06 and scored 7253 points(!!!) I have thoughts about this beeing the processor "throtteling".< When i run 3dmark i have the same "drops" as described above >

I've tried turning amd cool 'n quiet off, newest drivers to everything, even tried older drivers aswell ( i have NOT updated my BIOS ). I have tried to download fixes from amd, ( AMD dualcore optimizer ) but no difference. I've updated my pagefile on the harddrive aswell without any luck :/

I can play F.E.A.R with max without these drops and Counterstrike at max ofc aswell. I've run everest and what i can see from the logg is that the processor is "Through the roof" 100% during these drops and then fall back to 80 % usage.

Now i need help. Can't figure out what the problem might be or how to solve it. Thanks in advance

Hi, you checked for any un-needed Windows or non-windows apps or services running in the background while your gaming? Updaters etc.
You can find this info in your Adminstrative Tools Event Viewer.

Never heard of your PSU before but the specs seem decent enough.
Here's the Certified PSU's.......

Welcome.

That PSU is too cheap to power that System, Especially with a power hungry video card like that. This is most likely the reason for your Spikes.

I would strongly suggest getting the Corsair TX 750W for $100.

Or if your in the UK i can help you find a good PSU in ££.
