Upgrade Pentium 4

Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade my CPU.

Currently have Pentium 4 3.4ghz processor.

CPU

CPU Name: Intel Pentium 4 550
CPU Code Name: Prescott
Platform Name: Socket 775 LGA
CPU Full Name: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.40GHz
Instructions: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, HT
Original Clock: 3400 MHz
Original System Clock: 200 MHz
Original Multiplier: 17.0
CPU Clock : 3392 MHz
System Clock: 199.5 MHz
FSB: 798.0 MHz
L1 Data Cache: 16 KBytes
L2 Cache: 1024 KBytes

Motherboard

Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Model: 0U7084

Is there any faster processors that are compatible with my equipment? I really can't afford a new computer right now and would just like to upgrade this one.

Thanks for any help

Re: Upgrade Pentium 4

The Dell site should have a list of compatible cpu's based on the specific model. Post the model and can take a fast look.

Re: Upgrade Pentium 4

I don't know how their upgrade section works, need a service tag to get much further than this page, though it'll probably only work for machines bought from dell canada.

Been looking through the dell forums to see if there's any info or interesting links.

Re: Upgrade Pentium 4

From everything I've seen it doesn't look too promising. Only P4's, the xps wasn't pentium D compatible until gen 5. Not a very big leap in cpu speed from your 3.4. Wish there was some good news out there, but I sure couldn't find any.
