Some general cpu-mobo-ram fsb questions

Hi,

iam not a complete beginner but there is some things which ive never been too sure about, so i was wondering if i could find a pro or someone experienced here who could be bothered to spend some time and explain several things for me properly, id be grateful. Here is the questions:

- Lets have a mobo with 1800mhz fsb + 1800mhz fsb rams and 1333mhz fsb cpu. Now what happens ? Is whole system slowed to 1333mhz cause of the cpu ? Or will it still run bit faster overall than if the mobo and rams were all only 1333mhz as the cpu ?

- 3D Gaming under Windows XP: What is the performance difference there when running on dualcore / quadcore cpu (of same clock and fsb) when only one application is running - the game ? And what about when running multiple aplications, say 4 games, will all cores be utilized under winXP ? and what about 2gb vs 4gb ram in xp ?

Thanks alot if you decide to explain

Re: Some general cpu-mobo-ram fsb questions

Your fsb is dictated by what the cpu can do. Say if the cpu is rated
at 800mhz fsb, and your ram for 1000mhz fsb you will be running at
800fsb. Then you get into overclocking, push the fsb up a tad and
get a faster result from the cpu. As far as the other stuff you mentioned,
all I can say is that a quad core will be faster than a dual core, in
therory and practice. Im pretty sure a quad will be better at multi
tasking vs a dual core, but will the common person see the difference,
I doubt it...Imho....
xp 32 bit will only see 3 gigs of ram, for it to utilize 4 gigs you will
need a 64 bit operating system..
