[SOLVED] Computer turns on and wont load the BIOS
My cat knocked over a cup of tea that then slid down my desk and landed conveniently on a frontal portion of my chasis. Luckily nothing spilled down because there was nowhere for the tea to go, but my side panel was off and I believe some liquid dripped along the unplugged cables of my PSU and dripped inside the bottom of the case.
My screen went gray for a split second and I immediately shut off the computer. Now my computer wont boot into the BIOS. I have replaced RAM, replaced PSU, replaced battery, reset my BIOS, replaced video cards, plugged everything into a different motherboard, and tried a minimal boot with only 1 stick of ram/video card and it simply wont show anything. I am using a ball mouse at the moment so idk if the mouse gets power, the keyboard is unresponsive and the monitor doesn't load it just sits in standby. When I flip on the main power the keyboard flashes once so that's good I believe. Also when I boot my comp up I always boot it up by grounding myself and touching the on/off pins with a metal object since I burnt out one of the ones you plug the on/off case connectors into. My specs: amd x2 3800 s939 asus a8n-e a radeon hd3870 2 gigs of ram 200g HD Sometimes when I boot it to see if its fixed the fans will turn on really fast and loud like! I mainly want to know if this is a mobo problem or a PSU problem the mobo I tried was really fishy so I doubt it was a good tester, and the PSU I tried was some ancient 300w PSU that might have just been crap. I am convinced it is either the PSU or Mobo please help! Last edited by hrhunterhr : 07-12-2008 at 08:28 PM. |

Re: Computer turns on and wont load the BIOS
Well I was reading through posts to see if someone had a similar problem and sure enough, someone did.
So, I was scrolling through replies and some poor ******* said that his motherboard had died and he revived it! SO I followed his instructions, took my motherboard outside with me and sat down with it. I gave it some kind words and made it feel loved. I cleaned it off and actually blew the dust away with my own mouth (bad idea I'm sure), grabbed an empty cereal box from in my closet (lulul i know iknow) and set my motherboard on it and did a minimal boot and it works. SO that's it folks, with love and care you can keep your **** working |
