Asus P5W DH Deluxe - Sata ports
I have the Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard with 3 active hard drives connected to it.
My problem is that there appears to be room for a fourth although no connection port has been installed to the motherboard. I am looking to install a blue-ray ROM drive to my computer. Any help would be appreciated. If you need more info please let me know. Thank you. |

Re: Asus P5W DH Deluxe - Sata ports
does bios show 3 or 4 sata ports?
might it be for RAID?

Re: Asus P5W DH Deluxe - Sata ports
I believe it was 4 although the bios went by so quick it's tough to tell.
My motherboard says SATA1, SATA2, SATA3, and SATA4 although SATA2 does not have anything to plug a cable into. Would that mean it's set up for a Raid? *edit* I currently do not have a raid set up. |

Re: Asus P5W DH Deluxe - Sata ports
if you have 4 sata ports then you have 4 ports to plug a sata cable into
if any of the ports are capable of running raid you load the raid driver to enable the port,it does not mean you have to run raid you set sata as ide in the bios, this will already be set if the computer is up and running are the h/d already connected sata or ide is the dvd sata or ide

Re: Asus P5W DH Deluxe - Sata ports
It appears that only 3 SATA slots had a connection soldered in. The dvd is SATA.
Is there anyway to obtain more SATA slots, perhaps some type of splitter. What i really need is a way to run 4 SATA components off of 3 connections, if that's not possible I can always try to return it. |

Re: Asus P5W DH Deluxe - Sata ports
Having done some research would a SATA PCI card solve my problem of not having enough connections?
To me it sounds like the solution although i'm not sure if it could produce the quality I am looking for to run a blue-ray drive. Thank you. |
