Re: Computer randomly restarting please help

Also, the bugcheck 0x000000d1 indicates a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL condition. This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.

So how would I correct this from happening ?

I will zip up the dump and the msinfo and send it to you as you requested.

I was also wondering if a failing graphics card could be the culprit here, as sometimes graphics go a bit wonky and i have to alt tab back and forth to fix them.

Thanks for all the great help so far.

Hi. . .

The BSOD is more than likely being caused by a 3rd party (non-MS) driver (a .sys or .dll file) that probably needs to be updated or possibly un-installed. As Windows Updates come in, MS drivers are updated and then sometimes conflict with older 3rd party drivers - or sometimes current ones (like an anit-virus program). It very well may be related to the graphics card - whether it is bad or just needs a different version of the driver.

Of course, hardware may be the root cause here as well. The memory dump should contain enough information to point us in the correct direction - but it is always good to have more than one dump as it may be inconclusive as to an underlying cause. If several dumps return the same result then the odds are that the driver found to be at fault is the culprit. I have seen where 10 dumps provide 10 different errors - this usually points to hardware like RAM. If it is the video card, the dump should - but does not always - indicate a hardware error.

So if your system is writing a 1.5gb memory.dmp file found in the windows folder, you will need to either rename this file or copy it elsewhere as it is overwritten after each BSOD - assuming your system settings are such. Also check in the folder \windows\minidump as there should be small memory dumps there - about 100k - 200k in size each. If they exist, please send ALL of those as well.

Please see my PM for my email address.

Regards. . .

Re: Computer randomly restarting please help

I ordered the new heatsink and video card,I hope this is the cause.

SpeedFan reads my Temp at max 61c, average 58C.

Don't know if that is at the threshold for causing random blue screens, i also got one earlier today about "delta.sys"

Re: Computer randomly restarting please help

Hi. . .

The driver name that you mentioned - delta.sys is an M-audio driver. The latest driver update that I could locate is from December 2007 - for Windows Vista and XP SP2 32-bit systems. No mention of XP SP3. HERE is the manufacture's web site for the driver.

Did you get my PM? I would still like to get that memory dump!

Regards. . .

Anyone help available would be greatly appreciated.
I did a search for spzo.sys and came up with absolutely nothing at all. Whatever this is it is the part of the problem. When I run into something that can not be explained I get a bit worried.

Please do a search on your computer for spzo.sys and post the properties as to what program is using it etc?

I just updated the driver to the SP3 Driver they released 2 days ago @ http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=....drivers&f=930

No blue screens since I've updated the driver, but it's a bit too early to tell. I still have the video card and new CPU Fan/Heatsink ordered, so if either of those are the cuplrits that should sort it out. I also did a search for minidump and didn't come up anything besides an empty minidumps folder for firefox.

As far as the full dump, I zip'd it up and it is now around 750MB, what is the best way to send you a file of this size?

I did a search for spzo.sys and didn't come up with anything, so it is possible I just copied this down incorrectly.

I got one more bluescreen since updating this driver, it didn't talk about any specific file but just a generic blue screen.

Hi. . .

The BSOD with the 0x000000d1 where you mentioned spzo.sys has a date stamp of 47cf3bb9, which if I converted properly is Thursday, March 06, 2008 12:32:57 (GMT-5). I also cannot find anything on this file. But the date is a clue nonetheless - check you c:\windows\system32\drivers folder and sort by date.

The 0x0000007f bug check typically occurs after you install a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or if installed hardware fails.

As for the dump file, I know that mediafire.com offers free file hosting with a limit of 100mb per file - can you split the file to produce 2 files below the 100mb level? Also, as jamiemac mentioned, are your system settings set for a full memory dump - if so, for now, change it to produce a kernel dump.

Regards. . .

Strange, I have no driver files modified on the date you specified.

I also had the system settings to small dump (which it doesnt seem to be producing), so I changed to kernel dump as you suggested.

I will try to reduce down the big dump file and find some way to send it.

Could the 0x0000007f BSOD be related to a failing video card? Or is it more likely mismatched memory? I installed an extra 512MB from an older rig, but that was after I was already having alot of BSOD problems. I suppose I will take it just to be safe.
