Medion 2.8ghz Dual Core machine not starting

Hi guys - newbie here so not sure if this is the right place. Anyway, my Medion 2.8ghz Dual Core computer has stopped working today. In that, the power light comes on, the fan starts to whirl around, the hard drive makes aqppropriate noises, then - nothing. Nothing on the screen, the cpu fan slows to a stop and the thing just idles. I know this is very vague but does anyone know wher I start? I have already flashed the bios, removed the battery etc. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Medion 2.8ghz Dual Core machine not starting

Do you get a post beep? Does it quit or just sit there? Has it worked before, or a new build? Please list other specs including motherboard, video card, and power supply watts and brand name.

Re: Medion 2.8ghz Dual Core machine not starting

Hi and thanks for the very quick response. No post beep at all. It doesnt quit but just sits there. BTW, bought about eighteen months ago and up to this morning was working perfectly: little use, was going to set it up in a network.
As for the list, apart from it being a Medion Intel 945G there appears to be no other markings apart from what the things do, no brand names as such. Sorry.

Take the side of the case off and look at the side of the power supply and tell us what it says there.

Re: Medion 2.8ghz Dual Core machine not starting

Bill, do you have a friend who has a power supply you can try in there? It sounds like yours may be dying. Or, if you have a bestbuy or staples nearby, get a decent power supply (bigger than you have now) and see if it works. If not, take it back for a small restocking fee.

BTW, not on much right now, in the process of moving and don't have internet service where I am living, so response is slow for me. Sorry about that!

Re: Medion 2.8ghz Dual Core machine not starting

Hi
Sorry, wasn't trying to be sarcastic - I am aware that people have lives too! Many thanks for the tip. Have just moved house and thrown away two older machines which I could have cannibalised for the parts :(
Anyway, I'll see what I can recover from work and try that.
Many thanks for the help

Re: Medion 2.8ghz Dual Core machine not starting

And so today I went to buy a slightly more powerful PSU, a 400w, fitted it and I'm afraid the same results. :(

Re: Medion 2.8ghz Dual Core machine not starting

Just to let you all know I solved the problem myself. The culprit was a bent pin on the keyboard PS2 connector! Such a simple thing - feel an idiot now and sorry for wasting people's time!
