Hello,
I'm a new member here and I would like your help in the following matter: I recently changed my psu with a Corsair 450W, a graphics card Asus 9600GT and the following pc chassis: http://www.nzxt.com/products/hu001/ I did this in order to reduce my gpu temperatures that reached 110oC and my hard drive's that reached 45oC. The difference is noticeable since my gpu temps are down to 40-45oC and my hard drive ones at 29-35oC. However, my CPU temps are starting from 42oC and under heavy gaming or work reach 55oC. My CPU is the Pentium D 820 (2.8) Are the temps of the CPU normal or should I do something to reduce? |

Re: CPU Temperature! Need for advice!
As you said 55c under heavy gaming is fine. As u have put the CPU under max usage like heavy gaming, i doubt the temp would go any further higher and it should linger around 55c.
Although if you have the budget and the casing has addtional bays for another fa, you could install the fan.

Re: CPU Temperature! Need for advice!
Well, I don't have a game running now and the temp is between 42-46oC. We have extreme heat here about 36oC to 40oC the last couple of days. My chassis has 2 extra fans already 1 in the front and 1 in the rear both 120mm. There is no place for another one. They told me that maybe the cpu paste needs to be changed in order to reduce the temps but I don't know if I should do it or not.

Re: CPU Temperature! Need for advice!
Your temps are not really out of line for that processor, although maybe a little warmer than I like in the rigs I build. A front and rear fan should take care of your heat and yes, if you clean off the old thermal paste and install new (properly), then it might help you. Use only Artic Silver for the past and follow these directions:
Applying Artic Silver Thermal Paste

Re: CPU Temperature! Need for advice!
A better heat sink and fan might help. I just installed a super cheap one that turned out to be the best Ive ever used.
Asus Neptune P4 AH7 CPU Fan This is for a 478 socket but maybe they have one for yours...
