Confused [SOLVED] No output

Had a machine brought to me and, on first start up there is no output to the screen, if i reset then i get out put to the screen and the "resume windows as normal".. i have checked both graphics cards (these are bridged) in turn and still same happens.. Ram is 1024 meg 300 gig hard drive SATA, on a MSI board.. ive exsperienced this with my own machine and put it down to booting from sata. but would like to sort this other if possible..
