[SOLVED] ASUS commando boots to windows with no post info
Guys,
Purchased my Pc in Feb and all post info showed during boot. The pC now boots into windows fine but doesn't display any post info or splash screens in the process, just a blank screen. Also the monitor shows "no signal" initially and then goes to standby till windows screen comes up. This would be a minor if puzzling irritation except that I've just realised I cant get into the BIOS or Safe Mode during the postless boot! indeed if I try (Del or F8) the PC stalls and will not get to the windows password screen. To tell the truth I cant pin down when this first occured. I remember it happening maybe a month in but was v busy and put it down to turning the monitor on late - very sloppy eh?? Asus Commando mobo with quad intel chip. nvidea 7950 x2 video on board sound. I'm not desperate but really dont like that living on the edge feeling.... regards, Rob M |

Re: ASUS commando boots to windows with no post info
thanks for replying dai,
It turns out that the video card bios is suspect. I put a low end 7000 card in and my post info reappeared along with ability to get into Bios and safe mode.Perhaps the heat from the dual boards of the 7950 finally got to the chip. Anyway I'll continue to use the 7950 till it fails completely knowing I can always get into bios / Safe mode with the other card. regards, Milnsey |
