upgrade a Dell 4300S with a better Motherboard

Hello,
I have a Dell Dimension 4300S with XP Home edition. It has a pentium 4 processor. This computer is about 8 years old. My motherboard will only handle a max of 80G and 512 ram. I was told I could upgrade this computer instead of buying new by getting a better motherboard and faster processor. The only motherboards I find are replacements of the same out of date board I have. My question is can I and if so how do I know what motherboard to buy to start hot rodding my old computer?

Re: upgrade a Dell 4300S with a better Motherboard

Hi mate,
Since it is 8 years old PC, I would not recommend investing in upgrading because it is just matter of time when something will go bad...
It is way to much better to save your money for new PC...
And I do not think you will find components cheap [motherboard+processor]...
Hope you will make wise choice mate...
