CPU Changeout
I have an older HP Pavilion 7842 with 801 MHz Processor and 320 MB of Ram. I have a new Intel 1.13 Pentium 3 and have received the right pin configuration (I believe, based on info HP provided). They indicated the most I could use was a 1 GB Pentium 3 without upgrading power supply, etc. Is it worth the risk of screwing up my compter to do a change-out? I have upgraded memory as well as changing ouy my hard drive myself in the past.

Re: CPU Changeout
It depends on how skilled you are. You'll have to re-do the thermal paste, but that should eb all assuming you have the right replacement CPU. Although your BIOS may not be absolutely happy.
