blank/black screen on boot
Hello, I'm really stuck with a problem i have with new pc.
I made a pc for someones birthday next week ordered all the parts and built it today but when i go to boot it up the the monitor doesn't come on, all the fans come on and it makes 1 beep then sounds normal. ~~~~~~~~~~ I've tried: A different monitor on which it said no signal all the time, other monitor just stays on standby even after i move mouse which is plugged into motherboard and has light on. Replacing ram Clearing the CMOS Rebuilding from scratch Replacing Hard drive Using on board graphics ~~~~~~~~~~ PSU: Cacecom 500w GPU:8600gt Ram:Elixir 512mbx2 Motherboard:Fatal1ty f-19ohd CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz HD: Maxtor 250g sata I have a stupid confession too, i turned it on without the CPU aux power, ATX12V1, it booted up and it had the same problem as now which is why i checked, I'm not sure if this could have damaged it in some way. Any help would be really appreciated, I'm on a deadline, need it working by next week. many thanks |

Re: blank/black screen on boot
this leads me to another question.
The case has 4 raised metal bits as seen here http://image.ebuyer.com/UK/R0126611-04.jpg At first i put in the spacers that came with my mobo but it sat abit high (didn't fit with I/O shield) and it didn't boot like i said before so do i fit the mobo with just screws? it fits perfectly without the spaces on the raised bit but i always though they were required on all parts to seperate from case. thanks |
