Fans. Sucking or blowing

So Ok so I'm a bit red faced about this so I'll eat dirt and ask away. I opened a pc box to clean it with the vacum cleaner. I then unplugged and took the fan out to get the crap that had lodged it self in the finns of the cooler for the CPU. Once clean I realsied the fan can be replaced to suck air in through the holes on the side of the box or out. I reckon it's sucking air in but I'm not 100% sure.

Any takers on this one?

cheers.
Dave

And, any top fans blow out and suck hot air up and out of the case since heat rises.
