Computer restarts, no error messages or BSOD.
I am running Windows XP SP2. I have Professional and XP Home installed. This started around 4 months ago. Computer restarts semi-randomly. Playing any kind of system intensive games causes it to reboot. Installing anything big causes it to reboot. (I tried upgrading to SP3 a bit ago but it always reboots half way through installation) Playing any videos causes it to reboot. Although for some reason if I turn hardware acceleration off I can play videos fine without it crashing. Sometimes it will reboot when I’m just browsing the internet but that is very rare compared to the other activities which always seem to reboot it instantly.
I cannot recall installing any new software/drivers or anything but I can’t be sure. I reformatted once, updated all my drivers and windows updates and the problem came back. Which leads me to believe either it’s a driver/update conflict of some kind or a hardware issue. The problem is it gives me no kind of error messages and I can’t figure out how to track down what piece of hardware is the problem. There are no error messages upon restart. I’ve gone to the advanced tab of start up and recovery and disabled automatic restart but it has no effect what so ever I still get no BSOD and it still automatically restarts. I've monitored my computer temperature with programs to make sure it isn't spiking and overheating to cause the reboots but it doesn't appear to be. |

Re: Computer restarts, no error messages or BSOD.
Hi, what sort of temps & voltages are you getting?
Please reply with the spec of your machine; manufacturer and model or.... motherboard, processor, memory, video & power supply. Sounds like overheating or a power issue.
