Choppy Games (stuck sensor or other prob?)
I have a perplexing question. I first posted this question in the XP section because I thought it was a software issue. I have tried everything suggested there so far but it has not helped.
I put together a new system 3 weeks ago and it ran flawlessly for the first two weeks. My Specs are Intel Dual Core 8400 2 8800gt Evga Superclocked videos cards 4 gigs of OCZ Reaper 1066 ddr2 ram evga 750i ftw motherboard corsair 750w psu 2 19 screens at 1280 x 1024 Win xp32bit 3 external 120mm fans, the motherboard fan, and the Intel cooler that came with CPU No overclocking. My machine is mostly for graphic and web design but I do play Call of Duty 4 on it. The machine was running great for the first 2 weeks. Using only one card, on high settings I am getting around 200 fps. Played a game Sunday night ran great. I made no changes and added no new software. I woke up Monday and moved my Razer Lachesis mouse and noticed it seemed slow. I switched to my Logitechg5 and it seemed sluggish as well. Jumped in Call of Duty 4 and it ran Choppy. Still getting 200fps but very choppy game play. Replace the mouse drivers one at a time same problem. Updated all drivers (motherboard, video etc) same result. Check processes, ran counterspy, did a system restore no change. Switched video cards and monitors same result. Ram memtest86 for 7 hours no problems reported. Checked the PSU in Bios and with a volt meter all good. I unloaded COD4 and reloaded it (it took almost an hour and a half to load.) Also another new issue arose the mic suddenly does not work in the game. I loaded it on a lesser machine and it runs great and mic works. Ran Prime95 with stress test for a few hours no problems reported. I ran Real Temp, Nvidia Sytem Monitor and Senosr Pro. All said my CPU temp was around 69c during stress test. I ran a sensor check in Real Temp and it said I had a stuck sensor. This seems to be the only problem I have been able to find with this machine so far. Does a stuck sensor cause problems with your machine or is this a seperate issue. Could it possibly be a bad mobo? I am running out of ideas and don't know what could be causing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks For your time Grump ![]() |

Re: Choppy Games (stuck sensor or other prob?)
I also forgot to mention I ran a scan on my hard drive and everything checked out okay. No bad sectors and it defrags real easy. thats why I am suspecting either the mobo or the cpu but I am not sure. If anyone has any ideas let me know.
Thanks Grump |
