I need to know where to plug in the power connector to the JPANEL1 pins. I just bought a biostar P4M900M4 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard and I can not find where to put the power button plug into. Thanks for the help

Re: JPANEL1 Help

ok thought so

that gateway plug in not going to fit onto a retail motherboard like it did on the OEM motherboard

you have two choices

A) buy a cheap case and transplant all the guts of your gateway into the new system >>>> the new case will come with connectors that will work with your new board

B) you can go to any PC shop and have them cut you off some leads from old dead systems / we all have these lying around the shop! then you put those plug connections onto your new board / then trace where the wires go from the gateway plug to each termination >>>>> example = two wires in that plug will go to the case power switch ......... cut off the gateway plug and splice the wires from the gateway case power switch to the two wires you installed onto the motherboard which came from the dead system @ computer shop this actually works quite well

you can buy cases at newegg like the coolermaster centurion for about $45.00 to $50.00

a rosewill or raidmax case probably even cheaper >>>>>>> you would need a MED ATX case

if you need more help or have more questions let me know

Re: JPANEL1 Help

what I am talking about look like these with two wires coming out of them

http://www.frontx.com/cpx075_8.html

you would need one for the power switch

one for the reset switch

one for the hard drive LED (although thats not a critical one to operate the system)

power LED <<<< another one thats not critical to operate the system

Re: JPANEL1 Help

I've had to put up with said issue many times.

Generally, while my fixes work (i use the splice version), i use 22 gauge solid copper, make my own pin header adapters, and hope no master electricians nor fire marshals look inside the computer.

Re: JPANEL1 Help

I've done the splice versions hordes of times; many of my "repair" customers just dont want to splurge for a new case on an again system

the wires involved are all either "contact only" wires or "signal voltage" only

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...board+-+Retail

Re: JPANEL1 Help

generally speaking / OEM computers alter or design the motherboards special just for them so you cant use their case

I am skeptical if it will work without modification

BTW: if you want to save money....... look for a motherboard at www.mwave.com / click on refurbished / then click on motherboards you can save 40% and MORE

enough to buy another cheap case like the coolermaster centurion

Re: JPANEL1 Help

Hello Tony

the connectors I speak off look like this (pay close attention to the connectors that have writing on them and two wires coming out of each)

this is typical for retail motherboards and is an easy task to splice these wires to the wires from your block plug

Re: JPANEL1 Help

the chances of the pin assignments being exactly the same in the old motherboard plug in comparision to the new board are slim

you can pop out those pins and relocate them in the orientation your new board needs >>>> study your new motherboard manual ......... then trace back each wire in that plug >>>> bascially you are looking at pwr switch / reset switch / HD LED / Power LED
