Re: upgrading mobo
NO it simply means you will need to do a win xp repair install >>>>> no loss of data or programs
you will need to load all drivers again http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XP...install.htm#RI I will suggest you burn all the drivers you need for your system devices to a CD before you begin the "repair" or else afterwards you wont be able to connect to the internet until you have your modem drivers or LAN driver installed ????

Re: upgrading mobo
![]() It was a straight swap!! All I had to do was change the BIOS settings. I started up normally (boot from XP partition) and it did it all the rest for me! Maybe had something to do with the fact I had already downloaded the drivers ready for the wizard to do its thing... One problem though, I have an unknown device in the device manager that cant find its own driver. I cant work out what it is, how do I find out? ![]() |

Re: upgrading mobo
C55 Host Bridge Driver apparently. Problem is, when I ask it to search for the driver online, it comes up with a load of Linux/debian/fedora pages. Im running XP, so none of them are useful. Also, when I ask it to contact vendor, it takes me to the Nvidia website (which I search for the driver through) and nothing comes up.
Does anyone know where I might get this driver, or even if I have to? |

Re: upgrading mobo
Looks like it's supposed to be part of the chipset drivers, so should of been installed with the rest of them off your motherboard disc. Wierd eh. I had no luck searching for it either all linux, or the odd reference, but no specific driver link for xp.
