Speakers/OnBoard Sound/Front Panel Ports problem

I wasn't too sure as to what to name this, so I just included the multiple problems I have. I have Logitech X-230 2.1 speakers for my computer. Now, for some reason, they only work on my front panel speakers well, with 2.1 support and a good sound(this goes for all things though, I've tried other speakers, headsets, microphones don't even work). My on-board sound DOES work, except there's no 2.1 setting, just 2, 4, and 5.1. When I do use my onboard ports in the back, I could use the 2.0 setting but there's no sub and it's very low. For either the 4 channel and 5.1 settings, I can only use them as front or rear speakers, so I wont get any sound from those areas. I updated my drivers and such, but there wasn't too much luck. I use Realtek AC '97 Codecs, and the model is AC655. (Picture of AC97 Audio Config General Tab: http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/7483/ffefefern2.png ) I'm currently using Windows XP, 64-Bit. The Motherboard is an ECS nVidia nForce4M-A v1.1. I was thinking of getting a sound card but my case is a bit cramped near the PCI slot, unless I might resort to a USB sound card.
