Processor questions

The new dual and quad processors list a speed is that for each core or the over all rating, that is the Quad Q6600 is listed at 2.4Gb is that for each of the cores?

Yep you're right.


Q6600 = 4 cores at 2.4Ghz

AMD 5000x2 = 2 cores at 2.6Ghz

and so on.

Thank you they really do not give you the real skinny on the new stuff and on top of that they (retailers) only give you the processor number and no info as to what speed it is Intel does have place to look it up but they do not give the info I was looking for. Thanks once more you have made my quest a littler easier.
