Computer Just shuts off on its own
Hello:
My problem is this, I am using my parents computer while i am visiting them. After about 40 minutes it just shuts down on its own, and wont let you turn it on for about ten minutes. The only thing I can think of is that its getting to hot. All the fans are working so its getting plenty of airflow. The only thing I can think of is putting some heat sheild protectors on their RAM sticks. have you guys got any ideas? Thanks |

If you havent. Check the fan(s) in the PSU. This is classic Power Supply Unit overheating. Can also download a sweet hardware/sensor reader called Everest Home. Easy install and works great. Its not a bully program and loads/closes easy.

Re: Computer Just shuts off on its own
Download and run SensorviewPro and report the voltages and temperatures. When you check temps, report them both while you are at idle and when you have put the computer under stress for a while. Also list your specs including watts and name of your power supply.

Re: Computer Just shuts off on its own
Hi mate,
Open the case and clean entire case from dust with vacuum cleaner of compressed air... Also replace paste between processor and heatsink above the processor, and clean cooler on processor from dust too... What make/model is your PSU and how old is it??? Hope this will help you mate
