[SOLVED] reinstalling front panel for an Emachines T3882 desktop

this is the machine that i'm working with: http://reviews.Cnet.com/desktops/emachines-t3882/4507-3118_7-31341179.html

the trouble i'm having is that, after a recent "attempt". to upgrade the Motherboard in the stock tower and system, i had to reinstall the stcok motherboard back in the tower..but there was one little problem, i forgot where the pins from the front panel connect into. it shows a little diagram next the FP_USB pins..don't know why, but yeah, when i insert the wires onto the pins, nothing happens when i press the power button. i'm not sure if i did this right, or if it's something more sinister going on with this low-rate desktop. can someone please tell me what's going on?

Re: reinstalling front panel for an Emachines T3882 desktop

Didn't the manual that should have come with your new motherboard have a detailed pin-out chart? You want the front panel control pins.

The FP_USB are the pins for a USB port meant to be in your front panel. Your's may not have one (my home PC front panel does not have an opening for a USB port). It is not your front panel control pins.

Are the cables that come from your front panel have labels on the plugs?

By the way, in this case if you are not sure you should NOT have connect to the FP_USB at all. Lets hope you did not blow the USB port by connecting a power swt to it.

Re: reinstalling front panel for an Emachines T3882 desktop

no, i'm using the same motherboard that came with the desktop when i bought it, and none of the manuals show anything about the FP pins. it shows where the pins are supposed to go on the motherboard, but when i plug them in, it doesn't want to turn on. i know i plugged the FP_USB pins in the right place, cause it shows where they go. what's weird is that, when i place the Power LED on the pins that are supposed to be for the Power SW, the LED lights up. but then i when i put the Power SW back into the same pins, it doesn't want to start up, so it can't be the motherboard. i don't think.

Re: reinstalling front panel for an Emachines T3882 desktop

no, but thanks anyway. the ones on mine, are labeled. Power SW, HDD LED, and Power LED. pretty common. i just think it's lame, that even on the site, it doesn't tell me anything about the motherboard. or anywhere else. it's like my computer is so degrading, that people are trying to erase it from their memories.

You could try touching 2 pins at a time with a small flat screw driver ill you find the 2 pins that start the computer
