Nub assistance with motherboard/bios
Hey guys,
Mate of mine is having problems with his computer... when he turns his computer on he sometimes gets this message - "During the crash analysis, we noticed the basic input/output (BIOS) system version on this computer does not match the specifications for the central processing unit (CPU), also known as a processor, that is installed on your computer. This can occur when a newer processor is installed on an older system board or older BIOS. Using a BIOS that does not support the installed processor can result in Windows system crashes. Contact your computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer for an updated version of BIOS for your computer's processor." I can only guess that it is because of his motherboard and cpu conflicting, however ive checked the compatibility of the motherboard and the cpu should work fine... motherboard- nForce 680i SLI / 680i LT SL CPU- core 2 quad cpu Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanx Last edited by conno : 06-12-2008 at 03:40 PM. |

Re: Nub assistance with motherboard/bios
Here is the full spec sheet for your motherboard. Its not as you listed but one of the two.
680i SLI or 680i LT SL http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce_600i_tech_specs.html Will also need a more detailed description of the cpu and what bios your using. PSU and Ram/amount/speed... would help. Last edited by Pharaohz : 06-13-2008 at 07:23 PM. |

Re: Nub assistance with motherboard/bios
Is he running stock settings or is it overclocked?
If known to be stock settings try resetting then bios with the jumper. If your not sure how or don't have the mother board manual post back before proceeding. |

Re: Nub assistance with motherboard/bios
Need to know the model number and the manufacturer. You listed two options above.

Re: Nub assistance with motherboard/bios
If this motherboard CPU combination worked before without that error message it is not a Bios problem and I would not update it until the problem is corrected. However if it is a new build or he replaced either the motherboard or the cpu then a Bios update may be the answer. Before doing the update please get us the motherboard Make, Mode, Revision number, And if known the CPU part number. If not the cpu model.
